Martin Shepherd has long dreamed of writing science fiction and fantasy, ever since he discovered its wonders as a teenager in England. After spending almost three decades working in astronomy at radio telescopes in the US and the high Andes of Chile, he has now begun to write fiction, and is enjoying every moment of it. He likes science fiction stories that celebrate the wonders of intelligent life in the universe. When he is not writing, he likes playing traditional musical instruments from the Andes and builds experimental electronic gizmos, such as bat detectors, to peek into the hidden world that surrounds us all. At the time of writing, Martin lives in Japan with his wife, who is also a professional scientist.
